There are all sorts of things to talk about this week.
Tom Goeschel and Jennifer Johnson both have birthdays this week. Tom celebrated early by bringing in super-delicious, chocolate-dipped, peanut-butter-and-Ritz-cracker sandwiches. Jennifer just brought her sunny disposition :) Knowing that diamonds are a girl's best friend, Frank Abernathy and Jeff Raynes both helped cribs in games against Jennifer by donating cards for a cribbage salute! Unfortunately for Jennifer, the cribs were NOT hers. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening was Jerry Gooden earning the dreaded string of pearls. Apparently he played the WRONG 9 players of the other 20 people in the room. Cathy Perkins has been keeping the pearls safe; we're fairly certain Jerry is a good enough sport to wear them next week! The week's results are below. Next week, the last in September, we'll share the club standings. ~ Jennifer

Week 3 was a light week attendance-wise, with only 19 players coming out. Cathy Perkins had taken husband Russ to Atlanta to see a baseball game for his birthday (happy birthday, Russ!) and as life often does, it interrupted some other players' Monday plans.
Jeff Seidenstein didn't do the "I won points three in a row" dance, so it is safe to say, he still hates this game :). Even with out scoring points this week, Jeff remains at the head of the club with 30 points. Relative newcomer Sean Lang had his first 29-hand (congrats, Sean!), and only a scant few -- 3 in fact -- earned points this week. See this week's results below. ~ Jennifer Week 2, and Megan Player takes first place with an impressive 18/8 card. Jeff Seidenstein, he who "hates this game", has done it again, earning points with a 14/7 +81; hard to hate those results! :)
Andy Wagner earned a 12/5 +3 to EARN HIS BRONZE! Heartfelt congratulations to Andy! Out of 26 players, 8 folks in the club earned points with three more on the verge, scoring 11 points. See the week's results below. ~ Jennifer Twenty-three club members were on hand to kick off the new season. Grassroots dues are, well, due, so if you haven't already, bring an extra $7 with you next week.
Andy Wagner is SO close to his bronze award! He needs one more "points" night to achieve this goal. GO ANDY!!! And we welcomed home Dot Davis, who had a fall at the end of last season, and has been absent. After getting her hugs and kisses, and her beloved dark chocolate, Dot took mercy on her opponents, and only beat three of them. As she gets stronger, you'd better watch out! Full results are below. ~ Jennifer |
