Well, we are at the part of the summer season where some folks will start dropping their lowest scores as we carry on toward August. For this week, we had 20 peggers come out, including another new visitor Sara-with-no-H. She had a very respectable first showing, wining 4-of-9 games, and had a good time. Dot's memorial service is scheduled the same day as the Main for the John Medeiros Memorial in August. Therefore, we've made a couple of minor schedule changes: First, the lunch break on Saturday will be from 1pm to 4pm. Anyone not back playing by 4:05 pm will be assessed a loss and -10 spread. This is to keep things moving along. Second, Saturday Canadian Doubles will be pushed back one hour to start at 8:00 PM, and will be shortened to 7 games. If you're uncomfortable with these changes, no hard feelings; we hope to see you next year! Dot's memorial service information: August 26 @ 2:00 pm St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (about 1/2 hour from the hotel) 4801 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609 reception immediately following In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to: Transitions LifeCare, Philanthropy Dept., 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4801 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609 I'm heading off shortly to help Megan get set up for the Open Opener, pick up a player from the airport, and have dinner with Megan and some other cribbage friends. I'm so excited for the weekend! May our pegs run swiftly, and in the right direction :) I'm going to be away on August 7th, so will be tapping the Rocky Mount crew to bring the back-up box. ~ Jennifer

That's pretty great for summer session. Charles and Stephanie returned, this time with niece McRae in tow. Tom brought his son and grandson, but only the son (Marcus) plays (for now lol). Jeff Raynes also made an appearance, collecting his winnings from the last time he played with us, and has winnings to collect next time he comes :) We paid out like we had 23 players, McRae played as a guest. So we paid out a whopping 6 places and 3 teams! Stephen Podolski took 1st with a 14 / 7 / 79 Megan A. Player took 2nd with a 14 / 6 / 127 John B. Morch II took 3rd with a 14 / 6 / 62 Thomas J. See everyone tomorrow! ~ Jennifer This fine summer's evening, we had 18 players, including the return (albeit be but briefly) of our Liz! We missed you, girlie! I'm amazed I played well, considering the phone call I got just before we started. Everyone is fine. But. On the drive home from Wisconsin, my son and his girlfriend planned to stop over at her aunt and uncle's place in Ohio. Well, her car died in the middle of a road at a red light just after they got off the highway. AutoStop kicked in, then wouldn't kick off. Ugh. They should have been home Tuesday night, but now we're not sure when he'll be back. If it comes to it, we'll fly them back to NC. Fun stuff. Having 18, we paid out 4 places and 3 teams: Al Robinson took 1st with a 15 / 7 / 80 Jennifer Johnson took 2nd with a 14 / 6 / 99 Frank Abernathy took 3rd with a 12 / 6 / 26 Jerry Gooden took 4th with a 11 / 5 / 43 1st team: Kristy (11) and Larry (8) 2nd team: Linda (10) and Tom (9) 3rd team: Ernie (10) and John (8) Note that this week, we had to dip into the ELEVENS to round out the top prizes. Quite a change from last week! Here is the current picture, after this week's results have been added in: Jennifer Johnson had a straight to the 5. Jerry Gooden had a full house, 5s full of Js. John Morch had four of a kind in 9s. Mike Due had two pairs, Kings and 6s Joe Greiner had two pairs, Jacks and 9s Andy Wagner had two pairs, Jacks and 8s Liz Henderson had two pairs, 3s and 2s Week 5 had us up to 21 players with some new friends joining us for the first time... Charles (Jr), his wife Stephanie, and their son Charles (III) came out from Wilson to try us out. While we weren't very nice to them cards-wise, a good time was had by all :) With 21 players, we paid out 5 places and 3 teams. AND, if you didn't score a HUGE 14, you had to DRAW FOR TEAMS. Yeah. We were cards-nice to SOME people... Roger Doenges took first with a spoiled-by-Kristy-grand-slam 17/8/108 Al Robinson took second with the only clean 14 of the night -- 14/7/40 Jerry Gooden had the best dirty 14 (and is back in long pants and regular shoes) scoring 14/6/103 John Morch scored 14/6/94 for fourth place and Tom Goeschel snuck into fifth (by 4 peg points) with a 14/6/85 First Team: Kristy (12) and Larry (8) Second Team: Andy (14) and Frank (6) Third Team: Megan (11) and Charles III (8) Here's what the standings look like after 5 weeks: Jerry Gooden had a full house, Aces and 8s John Morch also had a full house, 10s and 3s Andy Wagner had a pair of Jacks Megan Player had two pairs, Queens and 6s Joe Greiner had two pairs, 8s and 3s Jennifer Johnson had two pairs, Queens and Jacks Later this month, we've got the NATIONAL OPEN! Have a great weekend, everyone; see you on Monday! ~ Jennifer So, I survived another week in the office, and just sent my boy off with the girlfriend for a road trip to Wisconsin by way of Indiana. Summer, for some reason, is crazy-busy even though there isn't a whole lot going on. So, sorry the updates are not as frequent as they should be. I'm hopeful that I can get back on track.
