Everything. Is. Yellow. Even after some nice rain over the weekend, the car is COVERED. I traded the white fluffy stuff for the yellow fluffy stuff. I'm not sure what is worse. Nevermind. Cold is worse. Still, now that the weather has turned, let's open the windows and air out the house! NOPE. Not unless you want to dust and vacuum every hour or so. Plus use eye-drops, claritin, and -- oh heck -- may as well wear a full hazmat suit indoors. Pollen season basically runs from March through December (trees are March-June, grass is April-September, and ragweed goes August-December) so really, there are like three days at the end of February when the sun comes out that you can enjoy the fresh air. Never fear, most places are air-conditioned, meaning the air gets filtered to some extent, so you can -- say -- enjoy an evening of CRIBBAGE! 21 of us did just that this past Monday night. We paid out 5 places and 3 teams: Jerry Gooden took 1st with a 14 / 7 / 69 Jeff Raynes took 2nd with a 14 / 6 / 86 Al Robinson took 3rd with a 13 / 6 / 61 Bernard Whitfield took 4th with a 13 / 6 / 33 Steve Podolski took 5th with a 12 / 6 / 20 First Team: Mike Due (11) and Kristy Haught (11) Second Team: Joe Greiner (11) and Jennifer Johnson (11) Third Team: Tom Goeschel (10) and Larry Phifer (10) Poker hand: Jennifer Johnson with Quad 10s The full results can be found here, but the top 10 is below: Big thanks to Henry Douglass, who has gifted us with two more white cribbage boards. There are a few folks who prefer the white wood, as it makes pegs easier to see. Megan's brought them home with her to have her neighbor engrave the dedications on the back that Henry, Bernard, and Pegs all wrote. Here are the upcoming NC Tournaments:
April 12-14 Raleigh Spring Fling Cluster (Durham) - Flyers available May 17-19 NC Open Cluster (Winston-Salem) July 25-29 National Open (Durham) - Flyers available (patron sign up, too) August 23-25 John Medeiros Memorial (Durham) -- 100% Payback on all events For a full list of tournaments, hit up cribbage.org at this link. See ya'll Monday! ~ Jennifer

WOW -- Two weeks in a row I got my club accounting done on time. Not quite a call-the-Pope miracle, but pretty good nonetheless. May 17-19 NC Open Cluster (Winston-Salem) July 25-29 National Open (Durham) August 23-25 John Medeiros Memorial (Durham) -- 100% Payback on all events For a full list of tournaments, hit up cribbage.org at this link. See ya'll Monday! ~ Jennifer OMG, ya'll, I'm SO sorry I've been MIA with the updates. Work has been brutal, and the GRNT season is in full swing, and prep for the BOD meeting and HOF voting took a bunch of time -- I simply ran out of hours. So, I have LOTS of updates, and many apologies. First, welcome (officially) to our new members: Chris Peck, Barry Judge, and Frank Easton. Their freshly minted ACC IDs have been delivered, the are NC 880-882 :) Second, HUGE congratulations to Tom Goeschel and Brian Wilson -- they both earned their bronze last night (March 11). Apparently, our new club thing is to have a "Buddy" when levelling up. This is twice now that the level award went to two players on the same night. Way to go, Tom and Brian! Third, I was remiss in not announcing this last night, but I will next week. Robert Reister is hosting his club's GRNT on Saturday, March 23 at the American Legion Hall at 111 Miller Street in Winston-Salem. Cost is $57 for official players, $48 for unofficial. If you played in our GRNT, then you must play unofficially in this one. Contact Robert at [email protected] if you have questions. Now, onto this week's updates: We had 22 players this week, so we paid out 5 places and 3 teams. There were a LOT of high cards, so both 12s had to draw for partners. Larry Phifer, fresh off his 2nd place win in Reno, took 1st with a 16 / 7 / 134 Brian Wilson, BRONZE WINNER!!! took 2nd with a 15 / 7 / 56 Joe Greiner took 3rd with a 14 / 7 / 45 Jennifer Johnson took 4th with a 13 / 6 / 98 Tom Goeschel BRONZE WINNER!! took 5th with a 13 / 6 / 56 1st team: Henry Douglass (12) and Ernie Hodgson (11) 2nd team: Kristy Haught (11) and Megan Player (9) 3rd team: John Morch (10) and Al Robinson (8) While the blog updates have been slow, I am all caught up on data entry, so the results should all be official in the next day or so. Meanwhile, the full results (unofficial) can be found here, and the top-10 are below: Some additional information for you ...there are some Megafer Tournaments coming up!
