The American Cribbage Congress sponsors Grass Roots Clubs (local), International sanctioned tournaments, and Internet Cribbage tournaments.
The Raleigh Cribbage Club (Club #58) is a Grass Roots Club
Grassroots Clubs give players an opportunity to play tournament-style cribbage at the local level. Players of all experience levels are welcome. Inexperienced players can compete against "veterans", thus learning the fine points of tournament play.
Tournaments: Monday Nights @ 6:30 PM
Location: High Park Bar & Grill | 625 E Whitaker Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608
Club Director: Jennifer Johnson | 617.515.2232 | [email protected]
This is a very sociable group ranging in age from 28 to 96. Players are seated in random order, and the club provides boards with pegs and cards. Each player plays 9 games every week against 9 different opponents. We wrap up anywhere between 9:30 PM and 10:15 PM, depending on how many players we have, and how good the cards are!
Feel free to come to observe or join in the play!
Established players pay $15 weekly entry fee.
Payouts are distributed weekly according to an established payout schedule which rewards high finishers as well as two-player teams, allowing approximately one half the players to earn back their entry fee or better. When the number of players exceeds 33, teams will be limited to 4. Therefore, at that point the number of players receiving payoff will be less than half of entrants.
New players may opt to play at a reduced rate of $5 until they win prizes for finishing in 1st through 8th place or request to be a fully paying player. New players, playing for $5, are not eligible for the “team payouts”
During Grass Roots season, September - May, all players must join Grass Roots and ACC after they have played 4 weeks with the club. Membership will be retroactive to the start of the season.
We play "Optional Muggins"... if you want to play Muggins, mark the back of your card with an "M". If both opponents have Ms on their cards, Muggins is on!

ACC Cribbage is really the same game that you already know. There are a few slight additions:
- every game, we cut for first deal -- low card wins the deal
- we cut before every deal
- the deck sits on the dealer's side of the board, not on the board
- no peeking at the bottom card when we cut for deal
- you must peg out when you win
- you should be able to play a game in around 15 minutes or so (barring terrible cards, of course!)
